The Right Material for the Job
Alpha offers a range of metals, coatings, and finishes, each with unique qualities in appearance and durability.
The right choice for your project depends on your environment and design goals. For example, salt in coastal air can accelerate corrosion, making certain metals better suited for those conditions. Likewise, some finishes will align more closely with your desired aesthetic than others.
Taylor Metal Products
Alpha takes great pride in being a provider of Taylor Metal Products.
Since 1985, Taylor Metal Products has been a trusted name among sheet metal roofing and siding contractors across the Western U.S. They manufacture high-quality metal roofing, siding, fascia, and soffits, and are known for their motto: “Quality Products, Exceptional Service.”
Our partnership with Taylor Metal reflects our commitment to excellence in metal construction. Their premium metal roofing materials feature innovations like the patented Non-Siphon Lock Seam.
Alpha provides roofing and architectural sheet metal materials in a variety of gauges and coatings for any project need.
Coated Metals
Coated metals offer enhanced durability, corrosion resistance, and long-term performance. When paired with a Kynar finish, these materials gain an added layer of protection that improves resistance to the California elements.
Aluminum
Aluminum is a lightweight, easy-to-handle material. Its natural corrosion resistance and long lifespan make it especially well-suited for roofing and wall cladding, particularly in coastal environments.
In addition to its durability, aluminum roofing offers strong economic value, making it a popular substrate for both residential and commercial projects.
Galvalume® / Zincalume®
Galvalume® / Zincalume® steel is a metallic-coated product that offers outstanding durability and corrosion resistance through its 55% aluminum-zinc alloy finish. This steel roofing averages 60 years of service life, approximately four times longer than standard galvanization.
When cut or scratched, the alloy reacts to protect exposed edges, sealing the steel with galvanic protection that helps prevent rust and prolong its lifespan.
Bonderized Steel
Bonderized steel, also known as paint grip steel, undergoes a phosphate bath that prepares the surface for superior adhesion of paint. This treatment not only promotes a consistent finish but also adds a layer of corrosion resistance.
Bonderized steel is often used in architectural sheet metal applications such as fascia, soffits, coping, and trim, particularly when a custom-painted finish is required.
Weathering Metals
Weathering metals are materials that improve in appearance over time through natural oxidation. As they age, they develop a protective patina in tones like green or blue, adding depth and visual interest.
Copper
Copper is the premier choice of weathering materials and a top performer in Southern California. As it ages, copper forms a patina that shifts from deep brown to rich green, offering both protection and timeless character.
Throughout Coronado Island, copper roofs and gutters over a century old remain in excellent condition. This enduring performance stands as a clear testament to copper’s lasting value, even in harsh marine environments.
Zincalume™ Plus
Zincalume® is a premium weathering steel substrate coated with a blend of aluminum and zinc. It develops a more matte appearance over time while maintaining its protective qualities.
In production, a clear, odorless resin coating is applied in-line to the steel substrate to enhance its initial finish. This step also meets the handling and safety needs of roll-formers, service centers, and installers.
Over 12 to 18 months, the surface gradually darkens as the resin weathers away, leaving a beautiful patina.
RUSTeel™ Plus
Rusteel Plus™ is a weathering steel designed to develop a naturally aged, rust-like patina over time. Ideal for achieving a classic or historic look, it reacts to atmospheric conditions to form a protective layer that evolves with time.
Its rich, weathered finish blends seamlessly with natural surroundings and brings timeless character to architectural designs.
Coating Colors & Finishes
Coating colors and finishes enhance the performance and appearance of metal roofing materials. From high-reflectivity paints to textured matte finishes, each option is designed to protect against the elements while adding depth, character, and long-lasting visual appeal.
Standard Cool Kynar 500®
The Cool Kynar 500® Paint System is a high-performance coating designed for metal roofing and wall panels. Engineered for durability, it offers long-term protection against color fade, chalking, and surface damage.
All Kynar 500® coatings use specialized pigments that reflect infrared light, helping to reduce heat gain and meet ENERGY STAR® criteria for steep-slope cool roofing products.
Pigments Alpha carries from Taylor Metal products include:

All coatings feature a low-gloss finish with 10–15% sheen. SRI (Solar Reflective Index) values listed above are based on actual testing and comply with ASTM E1980 standards.
Premium Metallic Cool Kynar 500®
Premium Metallic Cool Kynar 500® products deliver the same energy-efficient performance as standard finishes, including infrared reflectivity and ENERGY STAR® compliance, while adding extra depth, dimension, and a refined metallic sheen for enhanced visual appeal.
Premium pigments we carry from Taylor Metal products include:

All coatings feature a low-gloss finish with 10–15% sheen. SRI (Solar Reflective Index) values listed above are based on actual testing and comply with ASTM E1980 standards.

Premium finishes are high-end coatings that create depth and dimension. Due to the specialized application process, these finishes may exhibit natural variations in color from batch to batch and can appear differently from different vantages. As a result, exact color matching is not available.
Vintage®
Vintage® is a specialty finish applied over G-90 galvanized steel. The finish creates natural shade variation, with lighter areas showing a gray tone and darker areas reflecting bronze or brown hues. This variation gives the metal a weathered appearance while maintaining modern performance.
Vintage® is graffiti-resistant and well-suited for standing seam roofing, flat wall panels, or architectural projects that incorporate wood, stone, or other natural elements.
FAQs
We offer a range of high-performance metals including aluminum, Galvalume® / Zincalume®, and bonderized steel. Each material has distinct qualities in terms of corrosion resistance, weight, and suitability for specific environments.
Bonderized steel is phosphate-treated for enhanced paint adhesion. It’s commonly used for fascia, soffits, coping, and trim where a custom finish is required.
Weathering metals improve in appearance over time by developing a patina that protects the surface. Examples include copper and Rusteel™ Plus.
Standard Kynar 500® coatings offer long-term protection against fade, chalking, and heat gain. Premium metallic options provide the same energy efficiency with added depth and a refined sheen for enhanced aesthetics.
SRI (Solar Reflective Index) measures a material’s ability to reflect solar heat. Higher SRI values mean better heat performance and improved energy efficiency.
